Gar LaSalle and Heyou Media, Inc. Launch “Widow Walk” Backstories in Multimedia Segments,

Beginning June 21

SEATTLE, WA (June 21, 2018)—Heyou Media Holdings, Inc., a new media company founded by actor and filmmaker Tom Skerritt, will release a multimedia “Backstory Bonus Bundle” based on their latest project, Widow Walk, an award-winning historical saga about a frontier family in the tumultuous early days of the Pacific Northwest, by Gar LaSalle. The new storytelling package will roll out beginning Thursday, June 21, 2018 on www.heyoumedia.com/widowwalk.

The bundle, developed in conjunction with Widow Walk author LaSalle, includes:

  • Chapter-by-Chapter Audiobook: In the style of old serialized radio plays, Heyou Media will release two chapters each week, on Thursdays and Sundays, beginning at 12pm Pacific Standard Time. Narrated by Hollywood actor John Aylward (ER and The West Wing television series), and including original music composed for the production, the audiobook brings Widow Walk to life on many levels.

  • Behind-the-Scenes Stories: Author LaSalle narrates a series of behind-the-scenes stories that illuminate the inspirations for characters, scenes, and other elements of Widow Walk. Illustrated by videos shot on Whidbey Island, Washington, the never-before-released background offers insights and a new dimension to all aspects of the book.

  • Reader Insights: Every two weeks, the site will profile a reader who has been with the Widow Walk series from its beginning to share how it has impacted them or what they love most about the content.

"I love working with the Heyou Media creative team and I'm excited that historical fiction lovers will see and hear how some of the stories that inspired the saga come to life in multimedia,” said LaSalle.

Heyou Media optioned Widow Walk in 2017 and describes it as a “Game of Thrones-style saga based in the Pacific Northwest.” LaSalle’s work has also been compared to The Last of the Mohicans and Cold Mountain. Both books were made into feature movies.

Skerritt and the Heyou Media creative team started filming and pre-production on Whidbey Island, in early 2018.

“By weaving together the audiobook, behind-the-scenes stories, and footage from the real-life Whidbey Island, Widow Walk comes alive in a whole new way and brings together what is great about literature and video as separate art forms – all into one new, compelling experience,” said Mary Jesse, CEO of Heyou Media.

Widow Walk continues to receive major accolades by top publishing reviewers:

“An earnest, intelligent treat for fans of historical fiction.” – Kirkus Reviews

“The brilliant component of this novel is that it doesn’t come across as distant historical fiction for the sake of escapism or novelty – it is packed with timeless life experiences, existential crises, and subjects of sovereignty and race that remain a huge part of America’s national experience.” – John Staughton, Self-Publishing Review
